School is back in session and for many parents it's a bittersweet time of joy. Many parents don't have the means to supply the kids with simple school supplies such as bookbags, paper, folder, pens, and pencils.
Maurice Clarke, knowing this to be a problem for some in his community, he decided to help out. He started a facebook donation drive in early August to gather funding for the Book Bag Give-Away. Clarke's goal was to gather enough money to pass out at least 60 book bags.
However, the Facebook donation only collected $20, but that did not stop Mr. Clarke from obtaining his goal of helping the community.
He reached out to small start-up business, such as 606 Entertainment. Maurice was able to gather enough money to purchase 72 book bags, Paper, Folder, Pen, Pencils, and crayons for the Book Bag give away.
On September 1, 2019, Maurice Clarke prepared his book bags before heading out to a random block clubs to pass out the book bags. The turnout was great. We saw parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles all so appreciative of Mr. Clarke's thoughtful gesture.
Mr. Clarke walked the blocks passing out the ready packed book-bags to the children. In less than 30 minutes all the book bags were passed out and those children were ready for the first day of school.
